Somewhere between The Blair Witch ProjectLost in La Mancha, and Sasquatch is the made in Florida moc-doc THE WILD MAN, a slowly creepy campfire tale that exploits the imagination’s power to terrify. A young student journalist and her friends travel to a small town in Central Florida to collect documentary footage about the Skunk Ape (aka The Wild Man or Bigfoot), a legendary local monster who they believe is behind the disappearance of many young women. Over the course of several days, the students interview townspeople and gather clues to support the tale’s veracity. Many believe these disappearances are connected to the notorious Skunk Ape, while many others think it’s all nothing but a tall tale. At first, the group is hopeful, especially when a local acts as a guide through the dark swamps for them. But the project takes a frightening turn when the students lose their way in the woods and begin hearing horrific noises. As the days wear on, a visit from a menacing presence soon makes them realize that the legend may be all too real, and more sinister than they could have ever imagined.
